Q:  Is milk a good conditioner for natural hair? How can I incorporate it into my regimen?
A:  I have not heard of cow milk being used for natural hair, but goat milk is a highly-effective natural conditioner. It is an ingredient in high-end lotions, soaps, and shampoos.
Reportedly, after three or four applications, you begin to see marked improvements in the health of your hair. Some of the benefits of goat milk are:
  •   It makes hair soft and manageable.
  •   It helps alleviate dry scalp and dandruff.
  •   It smoothens and softens the hair shaft, adding overall shine and strength.
  •   It reduces frizz and adds curl definition
  •   It has excellent moisturising ingredients for various hair treatments
To benefit fully from goat milk, add it to your shampoo, conditioner, or natural butter preparations for hair.
Since it is perishable, add only the amount necessary for one or two uses and store in the fridge.
To make your own simple goat milk conditioning treatment;
mix ¼ teaspoon guar gum, one teaspoon coconut oil, one tablespoon olive oil, one tablespoon honey and ¼ cup goat milk. Nairobi supermarkets stock goat’s milk but if you do not find it, replace with powdered goat milk.                -

Do you wish to make your relaxed hair appear natural as quickly as possible? Simply plait your hair into small sections.
Spray with water and then sit under a dryer for half an hour. Undo the plaits and comb through with your fingers.
Your hair will appear wavy and curly. Neaten the style into an afro by using a three-function comb.
